In a nutshell, the M2 Competition is a limited edition M2 with the engine and gearbox of the M4. You heard me right, folks. Imagine that.
You got yammered by the wife cause you wanted an M2 and then you prayed to God that you could get one with the raw engine power and gearbox of the M4. You saw Competition on the rear right of the vehicle’s trunk and you rejoiced with gladness!
And yes, for you purists out there, the Bavarian company says it’ll come with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch gearbox as well as a, wait for it, 6-speed manual. And the time I first reviewed the car, it was said to come with an auto only.
This means that- Oh, my God, My bladder’s gone! It’s just gone, I’ve soiled my seat! I just did 105 doing a sharp turn in 4th gear doing 6000 revs and wet myself! Mommy!
Where was I? Oh, yes, with the manual gearbox, it means that you can have the most amount of fun and feel part of the equation. No Automatic or DCT or CVT or Sequential gearbox can offer that amount of human input, now, can it?
Of course, being a manual, it’s not as fast as the DCT. Naught to sixty can be achieved in 4.2 seconds in a manual but 4.0 seconds flat in the DCT. And, remarkably, the car can hit, get this, and hold on to your trousers, 175 mph. That’s only 15 mph short of the real M4!
Prices for the standard M2 is at $55,000. You can bet that the price on this beaut is at 80 grand.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, mates of class and friends of old. If you want a budget M4 with an M2 badge….
Look no further.
