Since 2016, Jaguar has teased us about the Project 8. What is this anyway? Is it some sort of research division that heads off into the middle of the Nevada desert in Lincoln County where Area 51 is and look for evidence of alien life on earth?
Or is it a top secret auto project aimed at making a fast car faster.

And this secret project was to make their smallest and least powerful and least expensive model faster and more powerful. How did they do it? Well, they had to go through a whole bunch of bureaucratic jawboning with the big rigs at Jaguar to give them the go code.
Then, after all that, all they had to do was shove their most powerful engine, the 5.0L Twin-Turbo V-8 under the hood of the XE and ta-da! I cannot understand how it took Jaguar 2 years to put an engine under the hood of a car.
I could do it in an hour or two and three to tops. But then again, we’re dealing with a car that has to stabilize itself at all speeds and have adjustable suspension and all the creature comforts the modern human requires in an exotic sports car.
Anyway, under the hood, you’ll find the engine has 567 horsepower and 516 pounds- foot of torque. Yes, for those of you with eagle eyes, this is the same engine off of the F- type SVR. This car will be named “Jaguar XE SV” as it pays homage to the F-type’s sports heritage and Jag will only produce 300 of the cars.
Grab that wallet.
